English (borne mainly by Blacks): apparently a modern coinage, composed of the name elements Del- (see DELMAR (SEE Delmar) and DELROY (SEE Delroy)) + -bert. In the 1980s it was adopted by the comedian Lenny Henry as the name of one of his comic creations, Delbert Wilkins.
